Grand Forks Air Force Base is donating 34 houses to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.
A ceremony was held Nov. 19 to symbolically hand over the keys. The ranch-style houses will be moved to the reservation later.
Tech Sgt. Joseph Kapinos says the houses are no longer needed on base. Theyre being donated through the Operation Walking Shield program, a nonprofit that works to relocate excess houses from Air Force bases to Indian reservations in the Upper Midwest.
