DU students apologize for Native American party

Denver, Colorado (AP) April 2012

A fraternity and sorority at the University of Denver are apologizing for a cowboys-and-Indians theme party last month that offended American Indian students.

The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Delta Delta Delta sorority held the party on Feb. 25. Three days later, members of the Native Student Alliance saw photos and lodged a protest.

According to the Denver Post (http://bit.ly/H3n0oK ), the American Indian students said the dress-up party belittled their culture and spirituality and violated DU’s diversity policy.
