Little River Band chooses new leader 6-2-07

MANISTEE, Mich. (AP) - Larry Romanelli has been elected as the new leader of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.

Romanelli will be the tribe's fifth ogema in the past eight years. He received 680 votes in Friday's runoff and Patrick Wilson, who has been leader for 15 months, received 376 votes, the Ludington Daily News reported.

Wilson replaced Lee Sprague, who was dismissed after the council accused him of failing to resolve problems with financial audits. Sprague said he performed well and his administration was making progress on the audits.
