From Cherokee, North Carolina, Mark Hicks’ flute reaches out to the world in this recently released cd. Almost an hour of relaxing and restoring tunes feature Mark Hicks’ skillful and talented flute playing.  Moon Rise transports listeners into a world of lush forests, pristine rivers and a balance between the natural and the spiritual world.

Hicks’ evokes emotions and soothes souls by playing his Native American flute.  This Cherokee/Irish musician is a fixture in his hometown of Cherokee, NC, where his music uplifts visitors at the Oconaluftee Island Park.  Mark Hicks has performed throughout the USA and Canada and shared his distinctive style with many audiences.

Initially, this cd celebrates the phases of the moon and the power of lunar tides and times through a transformative long song named “Moon Rise”.  “Grandmother Moon” moves the  listener with rises and falls that elicit healing and wholeness.  Since Mark Hicks plays a cedar flute, “Cedar Tree” is a poignant tribute to the power of the natural world to meet needs in the emotional and spiritual realm.  Finally, Mark Hicks celebrates the faith and strength that sustains numerous multitudes from all backgrounds.

Moon Rise is a gentle flow of flute music.  In this healing stream, Mark Hicks places his talent, heritage and beliefs.  The result is a cd that encourages audiences while it entertains them.
