Gamache, Lucille W.

MINNESOTA, Walker – A Mass of Christian Burial was held for LUCILLE W. GAMACHE, 95, on January 23, 2010, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake, Minnesota. Interment followed at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake. Lucille was born February 11, 1914, in Callaway, Minnesota. She passed away January 17, 2010, at Cass Lake Indian Health Services.

    Lucille graduated from Mount Saint Benedict Academy in Crookston in 1931 and the Interstate Business College in Fargo in 1933. She began working as a secretary for the War Department at the newly completed Pentagon in 1941. She continued working for the War Department but moved from Washington, D.C. To California and lived there from 1943-1945. In 1957, she was crowned the Harvest Queen at Cass Lake’s celebration of the Minnesota State Centennial. In 1971, she began her employment with the Cass Lake School District where she worked as a secretary in the Superintendent’s office, retiring in 1981. Lucille was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and as a devout Catholic was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society, and served as a board member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake.
