Baasch, James A.: Walking On

Toppenish, Washington

Graveside services were held for JAMES A. BAASCH, 73, on September 16, at the Reservation Community Memorial Park,west of Wapato, Washington. James was born August 29, 1938, in Fargo, North Dakota. He passed away September 12, 2011, at Toppenish.
   
Jim’s family moved to the Wapato area in 1946, and he graduated from Wapato High School. He attended Yakima Valley Community College for two years and served in the U.S. Army. Jim started his funeral service career in 1956 at the Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato. His career spanned over 50 years before retiring in 2011 from the Colonial Funeral Home in Toppenish. He will be remembered for his passion for funeral service and the dedication he displayed to the families he served. He believed in the importance that funeral service had in our society. Jim was a member of the Wapato Community Presbyterian Church, the Wapato American Legion since 1962, the Yakama Warriors Association and past member of the Wapato Lions Club.
