Memorial service held for the late Dr. Taylor McKenzie April 18 at First United Methodist Church, Gallup
WINDOW ROCK, Ariz.- A public memorial service for the late Navajo Nation Vice President Taylor McKenzie has been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Gallup.

The church is located at 1800 Red Rock Drive in Gallup. The Reverend Layloni Drake will officiate. A reception will follow the memorial service.

Dr. McKenzie passed away Friday, April 13, at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. According to his family, his death resulted from systemic complications related to a peri-prosthetic hip infection.

He was admitted to the Gallup Indian Medical Center's emergency room to the intensive care unit on March 27.As his condition worsened, he was transferred to Presbyterian Hospital on March 28.

Dr. McKenzie's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the administration and medical staff at the Gallup Indian Medical Center, its Emergency Room,Intensive Care Unit, and Operating Room where he practiced his art. Special thanks are given to Drs. James Lisko, Jonathan Iralu, Terry Sloan, Lyle Ignace,Ben Stake and Peter Frechette.

The family also wishes to further extend their gratitude to the administration and staff at Presbyterian Hospital. This includes the Adult Intensive Care Unit Drs. Dichter, Jensen, Campbell, Martin, Chong, Atler, and Magana.
