Harris, W. John : Walks on

ARIZONA, Desert Hills – A “Celebration of Life” service was planned for JOHN W. HARRIS, 100, November 14, 2009, at his home. John was born August 7, 1908, at Mill Creek, Oklahoma. He passed away August 29, 2009.

John moved to Arizona in 1926 and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1928. He retired in 1973 from the Phoenix Fire Department after 37 years at the rank of captain. He was an avid animal lover. He had three dogs, rode horses until his 90’s and rode his ATV until he was 99. He enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV. John was the grandson of Cyrus Harris, a former governor of the Chickasaw Nation. Mr. Harris was proud of his Indian heritage and returned to Oklahoma as often as he could.
