Ingerbrigtson, Jerry U.S. Marine

MINNESOTA, Waubun – Funeral services with full military honors were held for JERRY INGEBRIGTSON, 83, on November 5, 2009, at Lake Grove Lutheran Church in Waubun. Interment followed at Lake Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Jerry was born April 17, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He passed away November 1, 2009, at MeritCare Health Systems in Fargo, North Dakota.

Jerry lived in Minneapolis until his mother’s death in 1939. In 1940, Jerry moved to the Phillipine Islands while his father was serving in the military. Upon his father’s passing, he moved to Waubun. In 1944, Jerry enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving as rifleman. Due to an injury he obtained at the invasion of Okinawa, Japan, he was honorably discharged in 1945. Jerry then worked out west for several years until he began working for August Vagts construction in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Jerry made his home near Waubun, operating a farm and raising beef cattle. Jerry also hauled livestock for over 19 years and worked various jobs over the years. Jerry was a true outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as working in the woods and cutting timber. Jerry was a member of the Lake Grove Lutheran Church and was active with both the Mahnomen American Legion Issacson-Bjorge Post #31 and the Ogema VFW Post #9980.
