Peshlakai, Joe C. World War II Veteran

ARIZONA, St. Michaels – Funeral services were held for JOE C. PESHLAKAI, 87, on January 4, 2010, at Mary, Mother of Mankind Church in St. Michaels. Interment followed at the Natural Bridge family plot in Fort Defiance, Arizona. Joe was born March 15, 1922. He passed away December 31, 2009.

Joe had no formal education but worked as a logger in his early years. He was a peacetime World War II veteran. He worked with preventative maintenance with heavy equipment in road construction and was employed with the Office of Navajo Economic Opportunity and the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority until he retired as a carpenter. His hobbies included taking care of livestock, agriculture, carpentry, and Red Lake farming. (Navajo Times, January 7, 2010)
