The trial of a man charged in the slaying of an American Indian Movement activist is nearing its conclusion.
John Graham is accused of shooting Annie Mae Aquash in late 1975 and leaving her to die on South Dakotas Pine Ridge reservation.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley has said Graham and two other AIM activists shot Aquash because they thought she was a government spy. But Grahams attorney, John Murphy, says prosecutors havent proven their case.
After closing arguments, jurors will deliberate on whether Graham is guilty. The shooting has become linked to AIM and its often-violent clashes with federal agents during the 1970s.
