Fort Hall man sentenced for double fatal

Boise, Idaho (AP) November 2010

A 28-year-old Fort Hall man has been sentenced to prison for speeding with a blood-alcohol level nearly six times the legal limit, causing a crash that killed two people in 2006.

The U.S. attorney’s office says Tyson Coby was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison last week during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge. Coby pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in June.

According to the plea agreement, Coby was speeding on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation on March 24, 2006, but refused to stop for police. Officers broke off pursuit and Coby sped off in his pickup, traveling 76 mph in a 35 mph zone. He struck a car as he tried to pass it, killing driver Theora Galloway and her passenger, Ueland Redwoman.

Prosecutors say Coby’s blood-alcohol level was 0.46.
