Two members of Pascua Yaqui nation headed to prison

Two members of the Pascua Yaqui Indian Nation are heading to prison for 36 months for their role in a drive-by shooting.

Federal prosecutors say 20-year-old Estevan Miguel Estrella and 22-year-old Noah Espinoza were sentenced for conspiracy to assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Prosecutors say the pair drove past a residence Oct. 2, 2008 with a crowd of people in the front yard. Estrella fired a .22 caliber revolver at the crowd wounding one person.

Estrella and Espinoza both pleaded guilty on June 24.

A third man, 21-year-old Manuel Cupis, entered a guilty plea to the same charges last July. Cupis was sentenced in October to 18 months in federal prison.
