Man sentenced for theft from Nebraska casino

Omaha, Nebraska (AP) January 2011

Federal prosecutors say a former employee of a casino owned by the Santee Sioux Tribe in northeast Nebraska has been sentenced to a year in prison for stealing from the casino’s slot machines.

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says Bianco White, of Niobrara (nigh-oh-BRAR’-ah) was sentenced last week on a theft conviction. He was ordered to pay over $13,000 in restitution to the Ohiya Casino and serve three years supervised released.

Gilg says one of White’s duties was to remove money and operating slips from the slot machines, an operation that required at least four people. In June 2008, management began noticing discrepancies in the reports. Gilg says during an investigation, White was seen on video surveillance footage making an unauthorized drop from a slot machine by himself.
