North Dakota meeting planned over Fighting Sioux nickname

Bismarck, North Dakota (AP) April 2011
The president of the NCAA and its chief inclusion officer plan to attend an April 22 meeting in Bismarck to discuss the University of North Dakotas Fighting Sioux nickname.
Mark Emmert has been the NCAAs president since October. Bernard Franklin is an executive in charge of promoting diversity.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple and legislative leaders are invited to the meeting. House Republican majority leader Al Carlson and Senate GOP majority leader Bob Stenehjem said they would probably attend.
Carlson sponsored legislation that requires UND to keep its Fighting Sioux nickname and an American Indian head logo.
The two leaders said they didnt arrange the meeting and werent sure about its purpose.
April 22nd is Good Friday. Its a state holiday and it could be the last day of the 2011 Legislature.
