Man pleads guilty to robbing Arizona trading post

Phoenix, Arizona (AP) June 2011

A Round Rock man has pleaded guilty to holding up a trading post on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona last summer.

Federal prosecutors say 18-year-old Jercelo Evan Jim entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.

They say Jim pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery. He’s scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 30 and could be facing up to a 15-year prison term.

Authorities say Jim and two co-defendants entered the Round Rock Trading Post last July.

One of the co-defendants allegedly pointed a rifle at the store owner behind the counter and demanded cash and cigarettes.

Authorities say the robbers fled on horseback and stashed the rifle in a nearby wash. The weapon was later recovered by tribal police.

Jim’s co-defendants both are awaiting trial.
