Drug bust nets 12 arrests, vehicle and cash seizures

Willison, North Dakota (AP) 8-07
A drug bust has resulted in the arrest of 12 people from eastern Montana and western North Dakota.

Authorities said they also seized eight vehicles and several thousand dollars in cash during the methamphetamine bust, which started late the week of August 13 and ended Aug. 20, with the arrest of the last suspect.

Arrested were Crystal Strait, 23, MacKenzie Strait, 25, Donovin Holt, 24, Charles Williams, 27, and Lacy Wood, 20, all of Sidney, Mont.; Laurie Cline, 39, and Lisa Rice, 34, both of Fairview, Mont.; Mike Green, 52, of Wolf Point, Mont.; James Crews, 49, of Williston; Troy Froehlich, 39, of Belfield, N.D.; and Mary Tinnes, 45, and Terry Tinnes, 46, both of Ray, N.D.

The bust was the result of an investigation that has gone on for more than a year. More arrests are expected, authorities said.

Ron Kemp, undersheriff in Montana’s Roosevelt County, said the meth seized from the suspects might be connected to a larger pipeline of drugs manufactured outside of the region.

“The meth did not come from homemade labs,” he said.

The probe involves law enforcement agencies in Montana and North Dakota, along with federal and tribal officials.
