Charges faced by Kaweah Indian Nation

A federal grand jury has indicted the Kaweah Nation and 11 people who worked for it.

The tribe is charged with:

– Four counts of harboring illegal aliens.

– One count of possession of false documents with intent to defraud the United States.

– Three counts of conspiracy to defraud the United States.

– One count of producing false identification documents.

The chief, Malcolm L. Webber, is charged with:

– Four counts of harboring illegal aliens.

– One count of possession of false documents with intent to defraud the United States.

– Three counts of conspiracy to defraud the United States.

– One count of mail fraud.

– One count of producing false identification documents.

Debra J. Flynn is charged with:

According to the U.S. attorney’s office, each charge carries the following penalties:

– Conspiracy to defraud the United States: up to five years in prison without parole and a fine up to $250,000 on.

– Harboring illegal aliens: up to 10 years in federal prison without parole and a fine up to $250,000.

– Possessing false identification documents: up to 15 years in federal prison without parole and a fine up to $250,000 on each count.

– Mail fraud: up to 20 years in federal prison without parole and a fine up to $250,000.
