Former clinic workers charged with embezzlement

Fresno, California (AP) 2-08

Two former employees of a Porterville health clinic are charged with embezzling money that was intended to be used in treating American Indian patients.

Fifty-four-year-old Sharon Kay Hoseley, of Kuna, Idaho, and 41-year-old Belinda Hearn of New Albany, Miss., were charged with two counts of embezzlement in an indictment issued by a federal grand jury.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark McKeon says the pair plotted to defraud the Tule River Indian Health Center Inc. by writing themselves checks for vacation benefits and travel expenses they werenÂ’t owed.

According to the indictment, the duo embezzled a little less than $114,000.
