Tribal official indicted on embezzlement counts

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (AP) 3-08

A federal grand jury indictment has charged a Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes legislator with 15 counts of embezzlement for allegedly taking more than $46,000 in funds and gaming revenues from the Lucky Star Casinos.

Roy Dean Bullcoming appeared before U.S. Magistrate Gary M. Purcell for arraignment on the charges, which could lead to a federal prison term of up to 10 years and a fine of up to $250,000 if the former tribal business committee representative is convicted.

Bullcoming is accused of taking more than $25,600 in tribal funds by obtaining tribal checks and using the money to buy or repair personal vehicles from 2003 to 2004.

The indictment also alleged that Bullcoming didn’t attend various conferences, even though he obtained more than $21,000 in funds from the casinos to use for travel, per diem, registration fees, and other expenses to attend the events.
