The police chief with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa is back on the job after prosecutors dropped an assault charge against him.
Tribal spokesman Cory Wilson tells that Fred Paquin returned to work recently.
Paquin was suspended after a woman told state police last summer he had assaulted her. Paquins attorney said he acted in self-defense.
The state attorney generals office dismissed the misdemeanor charge in February after reaching an agreement with Paquin. It requires him to refrain from assaultive or threatening behavior and to seek counseling.
