Two Moons pleads guilty in shooting death 5-3-07

HARDIN, Mont. (AP) - A Busby man accused of shooting and killing a Lockwood man last December on the Crow Indian Reservation changed his plea Wednesday in federal court.

Wayland Two Moons, 34, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter as part of a plea agreement.

Two Moons told U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull that he had been drinking heavily on Dec. 31, 2006. He said he was putting a rifle in the back seat of a pickup truck when he accidentally shot Austin Jawort, 25, who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Jawort was shot in the right buttock. A witness drove him to the Big Horn County Hospital in Hardin, but Jawort bled to death before they arrived.

Two Moons remains in custody. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 8.
