Grassroots Cherokee gathering in 2008

Dear Editor,

I wanted to take a moment to contact you regarding a new and unique grassroots event that is now in it’s planning stages. As I am sure you are aware, next year, 2008, is the 170th anniversary of the deadly Trail of Tears our common ancestors were forced to walk. This event will take place at the Gordon County fairgrounds on November 6, 7, 8, and 9th, 2008, in Calhoun, Georgia.

This will be known as Cherokee Homecoming Festival. Here the Cherokee for the first time will return to their ancestral home at New Echota, with the support of all of their tribal brothers and sisters. This historical event is being organized by a grassroots group know as Dragonfly Productions. I am attaching their web site for your review. Dragonfly Promotions (Cherokee Nations Homecoming Festival).

We hope after you have had a chance to review the information you will make the decision to support this event by any means at your disposal.

Thank you for your time and support.
