Tribe opening 16-story, 340-room desert gambling resort

The Southern California desert has another Las Vegas-style gambling resort.

The $300 million, 16-story Aqua Caliente Casino Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage along the Interstate 10 casino corridor that extends from the Morongo casino in Cabazon to Indian resort casinos in Indio.

The new Agua Caliente resort at its existing casino includes a 340-room luxury hotel with a 10,500 square-foot spa, 10,000 square-foot conference center, a 50,000 square-foot pool area and a 2,000 seat theater.

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians also operates the 230-room Spa Hotel and Casino in downtown Palm Springs.
