McLoud, Oklahoma (AP) Feb. 2010
Authorities say two construction workers who became trapped when a trench collapsed near the Kickapoo Casino have died.
Jacktown Fire Chief Greg Ford said the accident happened opn Feb. 16 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 62 and Oklahoma 102.
Ford said the men were digging a hole for a septic tank when it caved in on them. The name of the construction company the men worked for also wasnt released.
Ford said heavy equipment wasnt immediately available to help move the dirt, so crews worked on their own to shore up the opening but were hampered by the unstable soil.
Several messages seeking comment and additional information about the accident were not immediately returned by Kickapoo tribal police.
