Navajo college given $700 K from federal gov.

Washington, D.C. (AP) September 2010

A Navajo Nation college is one of eight tribal colleges to split $6.3 million in federal money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The Dine College plans to use its $700,000 Tribal Colleges and Universities Program grant on the construction of new residential housing units for students with dependents.

HUD says the student and family residence will be located on the main campus in Tsaile Ariz., and will be approximately 30,000 square feet.

HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan says the tribal institutions of higher learning are investing in building minds as well as their local communities.
