Police officer for Cheyenne River laid to rest

Law enforcement officers from across western South Dakota have paid their respects to a tribal police officer killed last weekend in a car crash.
Television station KEVN reports more than 100 cars joined last week's procession for Merrill Bruguier, a 14-year veteran of the Cheyenne River Indian Reservations police force. A former Marine, Bruguier was laid to rest in Black Hills National Cemetery.
Police have said Bruguier was killed last week in a one-vehicle accident at the junction of S.D. Highway 63 and U.S. Highway 212. He was on duty at the time.
