US justice official to address New Mexico tribal leaders

Albuquerque, New Mexico (AP) December 2010

A top official with the U.S. Department of Justice is slated to address New Mexico tribal leaders during this year’s consultation with U.S. Attorney General Kenneth Gonzales.

The assistant attorney general for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, Thomas Perez, will be in Albuquerque this week for the tribes’ annual meeting with the U.S. attorney’s office.

The consultation is aimed at promoting positive
government-to-government relationships and addressing public safety challenges in American Indian communities across New Mexico.
