Florida native tapped for federal Everglades job

The chair of a board that oversees water resources in South Florida has been appointed to a federal program to develop Everglades restoration policy.
The U.S. Interior Department announced last week that Shannon Estenoz will become the agencys director of Everglades Restoration Initiatives.
Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Estenoz will work with the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Geological Survey to coordinate federal work on restoration efforts. She will also collaborate with state, tribal and local governments.
Estenoz has most recently served as a member of the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District, and as chair of the districts Water Resources Advisory Commission.
