Tribal officials assemble fire investigation team 8-07

ROCKY BOY, Mont. (AP) - Tribal officials at the Rocky Boy's Indian
Reservation are assembling a team to investigate possible arson in
four fires, and have offered a $1,000 reward for information leading
to a conviction.

“We're trying to get in some more wildland fire investigators so we
can try to get the person responsible,” investigator Theron Oats

One of the fires occurred early Tuesday in pine trees near the
community of Rocky Boy and was contained after burning 15 acres.
Other fires occurred later in the day and burned rangeland, with one
scorching 500 acres near Box Elder. Of the other fires, one burned
about 60 acres and the other a fraction of an acre.

Oats said that besides him, cause of the fires is being examined by
Grace Her Many Horses of the Rocky Boy criminal investigation unit
and Rick Weasel, a fire investigator from the Fort Belknap Indian

Burning occurred both on and off the Rocky Boy's reservation.
