
Narragansett Tribe re-elects Thomas for third term

The Narragansett Tribe has re-elected chief sachem Matthew Thomas for a third five-year term.
Thomas garnered 306 votes, or about two-thirds of the more than 450 ballots cast.
Challenger Paulla Dove Jennings, a former tribal councilwoman, got 145 votes.
Jennings congratulated Thomas on his victory and says she hopes he can live up to the tribes ideals and expectations.
