The Tonkawa Tribe has a new president.

Members of the tribe voted to elect former tribal elder Don Patterson as the replacement for former president Anthony Street.

Street faces a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance stemming from an arrest at a Blackwell motel in January.

He appeared before a judge and had a new court date scheduled for June 27.

James Schreen defeated incumbent Gordon Warrior to become the tribe’s new vice president, and Dawnea Pappan was re-elected as secretary.
