Plans for Vietnam memorial at Indian Expo collapse

Anadarko, Oklahoma (AP) August 2010

The organizers of an annual American Indian Expo in Anadarko say plans to display a traveling version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial suddenly collapsed.

Expo board treasurer Doris Bish says Lisa Grey, who was traveling with the memorial, expressed concerns about parking and an unlevel base for the display. Bish says organizers complied with everything Grey requested.

Expo officials say there was no charge for parking for the memorial but there is a charge for parking for the expo’s grandstand and carnival area on the opposite end of the fairgrounds. They say those traveling with the memorial and took the memorial during the first week of August.
