Acoma Pueblo opens community center

Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico (AP) August 2010

Officials at Acoma Pueblo have opened a $13.1 million community center building.

The facility was constructed using a $12.6 million federal loan and $500,000 in federal stimulus funding. The loan money comes through a Department of Agriculture program that provides rural communities with financing for such buildings.

The 50,000-square-foot structure will house Acoma Pueblo tribal administration offices, a new council chamber, a health office and wellness facilities, a gymnasium and a gathering place for community-wide functions.
