A Montana Mental Health Settlement trustee says eight projects have been awarded more than $2.1 million.

A $600,000 grant will go to the state Office of Public Instruction to help launch a school-based mental health program at three Indian reservations.

Another $600,000 will go to the Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center to help build a mental health center in Glendive.

Ravalli County will receive $425,000 for a new crisis stabilization facility.

Other projects include furnishing a chapel at Montana State Hospital, a center to treat mentally ill children, services for adults with a mental health crisis and suicide prevention resources.

Trustee John Warner said in a statement last week that these were applications of great importance, but other applications for trust funds are still being considered.
